Barry Nirmal is also known in India as Birendra Kumar Nirmal. Below is a brief biographical sketch of him.

1949- Born in a village in Bihar State, India, in a Hindu Brahmin farming family.
1962 - Changed last name from Tiwary to Nirmal as a protest against the Hindu caste system.
1964 - High School Diploma.
1970- Bachelor of Technology (Honors) In Electrical Engineering from the world famous Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) , Kharagpur, India
1971- Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from University of Nebraska.
1971-1973 - Studied for M.S. degree in Computer Science, (Univ. of Nebraska)
1982-1984 - Senior Programmer/Analyst and Project Leader at Cascade Group, Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
1986 - First Textbook on Programming Standards and Guidelines published by Prentice Hall, New Jersey, USA.
1986-1993 - Systems Analyst and Project Leader at SCECO- East (Saudi Consolidated Electric Compnay - East)
1988-1993- Five More Textbooks on programming technologies published by U.S. publishers.
1995-1997- Senior Programmer/Analyst and Project Leader at King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
1999 - Became Sun Certified Java Programmer.
2001 - Awarded membership in "Who is Who" in Information Technology.
