Why these images of death?

by Nirmal Jee

On this page you will see some images of death. Some of these images are really horrific and hence these images are not suitable for children or the faint hearted.

These images remind us that our lives are temporary. As the Hindu holy book "Geeta" teaches, everything in this world decays and everything passes away. We must keep this truth in mind as we undertake this journey called life.

Death is interesting. One Hindu saint aptly remarked that the most amazing thing in this world is that death is everywhere and still man thinks that he will live forever.

Some of the deaths depicted here were caused by violent criminals, some by people who had a political mission to fulfill. Some were caused by merciless forces of nature.

We are especially pained to see that some people become worst kind of criminals and killers, like the guy in Indiana who molested and killed a 10 year old girl, or the man who kidnapped a ten year old girl in Vienna and held her captive for six long years.

Still it is unfortunate that the prisoner in Indiana had "Katie's Revenge" tatooed on his forehead. No one has the right the take law in his or her hands. Only society has the right to inflict punishment according to law.

We only pray to God that she should provide guidance to everyone to stay on the right path, and that God should also guide the society on the right path so that conditions that engender such brutal criminals are neither created nor sustained.
